Coverage of a three-day luxury watch press trip in Biarritz and the launch of my book the Breitling Book Of Surf. I laughed, until I cried. And it wasn't because of the dictophone up my bum.
Nothing like a good old fashion mid year junket with famous people to reenergise you. Unlike some, I don’t really like name dropping but I had lunch with Billy Peden yesterday, bangers n mash at The Cricketers.
Thank god for the intersection between surfing and luxury brands. Interesting how the least soulful scenarios can provide the richest pickings for your surf journalism.
Weirdly there was some really special moments, the crew were really psyched on surfing and the surfer's "vibe". Not exactly soulful, but positive. Though the free booze and incredible food and accommodation may have had something to do with it.
Hardest working surf journo in the game, love ya stuff Ghost (Mondy), keep it coming! I’ve still got that that watch (slightly less expensive) you gave me about 15 years ago after similar circumstances. Easy come easy go old mate!
Hey brother. We will have a discussion about the stateof surfing but till then just remember you are one of the good guys. All these pretenders only think they are running the show because of the money. Even st six foot they are out of their depth. Long live the Pinny!!!!!!!!
Reminds me of the team I went tobogganing with Alesha Dixon at an incredibly debauched Snowbombing back in the day. And of course the water in the face game got a run out
Someone has to keep fighting the good fight

I imagine “celebrity parents” would have been a bit awkward. Probably a few of their actual parents.
They guy next to me got Leonardo di Caprio, I told em you give me Paul Giammatti from Sideways. No one laughed. I didn't mention Roland Schitt.

It is comforting to know such press trips still exist Matt. Even it may be my last one.
I thought those days were over. You’re like one of those WWII vets stumbling out of the jungle
